The China International Big Data Industry Expo (Big Data Expo), the world’s first exposition on the theme of big data, is co-sponsored by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC), and the People’s Government of Guizhou Province. The annual event has been held for eight consecutive years, and has become an international event and a world-class platform for big data development.

The preparation work for the Big Data Expo 2023 has started, and this year’s expo carries on the spirit of “Data Creates More Value, Innovation Drives a Better Future”. To present the expo’s image of being an international and authoritative platform in an all-round way and raise public participation, we are pleased to announce an online call to solicit the theme for the Big Data Expo 2023, and relevant information on the solicitation is as follows:

II. Who can participate?

The call for theme solicitation is open to any organization or individual regardless of location.

III. Dates

The proposed theme must be received on or before December 20, 2022 Beijing Time. 

IV. Notes for Entries

1. The proposed theme must match the expo’s tenets of “global vision, national interests, industry roles and corporate responsibilities”.

2. The proposed theme must grasp the underlying trends of the digital age, focus on the forward-looking and hotspot issues on global digital economy, demonstrate theoretical guidance and guide the world’s cutting-edge research topics in an easy-to-understand manner.

3. The proposed theme must focus on the national strategy, follow the trends of industrial development, and reflect the cutting-edge technology. 

4. By submitting any theme, the entrant represents and warrants the submitted proposal shall be original and shall not be plagiarized, counterfeited or infringe the intellectual property rights of others, and has not been published or submitted elsewhere in any form or known to the public in any way.

V. Submissions

The entrant shall send the work (including the theme for the Big Data Expo 2023 and the illustration of the proposed theme) to the following email address sbhzhxtz@guiyang.gov.cn, with the subject line “Big Data Expo 2023 + Entrant name + Contact phone number”. 

Ⅵ. Selection

The Office of the Executive Committee will review all the submitted works. In the first round of selection, 50 entries will be shortlisted and given an award for being a shortlisted candidate. In the second round of selection, 10 works will win out and be given an award for being nominated for the best theme. In the final round, experts will determine three best works to finalize the theme of this year’s big data expo.

Ⅶ. Awards 

The top three works will receive a “best theme” certificate, and the entrants will be invited to attend the opening ceremony, high-end dialogues, forums, exhibitions, and release events of the Big Data Expo 2023. The nomination-winning works will receive a “nomination award” certificate and be invited to attend the high-end dialogues, forums, exhibitions, and release events of the Big Data Expo 2023. The other awarding-winning entrants that have received “shortlist award” certificates will be invited to attend the forums, exhibitions, and release events of the Big Data Expo 2023. All of the award certificates will be presented by the Executive Committee for the China International Big Data Industry Expo, and all the shortlisted works will receive a souvenir.
